In the first version, members collected 24.9 million attendance points. What kept them coming was not the rules, but the art for every level, the weekly rankings, and the story of their path in Journey.

Attendance has to be true. Dynamic QR codes and geofencing exist for that, not for watching people.
Fun
Arriving on time is easier with something to chase: points, levels, and friends on the leaderboard.
Respecting privacy
Location is read only at check-in. Data is stored in Indonesia and never sold.
